Week 5 (Week 8, Thing 20)

My favorite thing that I have learned is about the Wiki. I was so lost when I first came to class and had to navigate the Wiki and follow along on it. Now that I have learned about it, I was able to impliment it right away into my classroom. My parents LOVE when I post things on the wiki. I am able to easily update assignments and post pictures and videos that we are doing in class.

I have also loved having the flip camera to take on field trips and catch fun things going on in the classroom. I think parents love being able to see what their child is doing during the day and whenever I post on the wiki, it is an easy tool for them to use!

I can see myself using both of these tools for many years to come!

Week 7, Thing 17

I have spent some time looking over the podcasts and trying to figure out how to best fit this tool into my classroom. I would like to try it in reading on my lower group to help them listen to themselves. Hopefully they would be able to hear, while following along the passage, how they are fluent. Then with practice, become better.
Wish I had time in the day to impliment lots of these tools. One step at a time, I guess...

Week 8, Thing 19

On Google Earth, I was able to see some of the houses I grew up in. Being in an Air Force family, I've lived in many different cities and homes. It was interesting seeing changes to some of the old neighborhoods. I also looked at some of my old schools I attended. Again, changes over the years to the various campuses was very interesting. I also found my current house and was able to determine the approximate day of the picture, since my house was still the old color. We had it painted about 1 1/2 years ago.

We are studying Colorado Springs history in the classroom. Youtube has many videos of Colorado Springs that would be good to show the kids.

Week 6 Thing 14 and 15

Here is the web video I did for my classroom

Week 4, Thing 11

I really don't see a practical use for tag clouds. It appears to be simply a visual way to summarize a large amount of information. Possibly if I wanted a quick synopsys of an article, I can use a tag cloud to get a visual picture of the most frequently occurring ideas in an article.

Week 4, Thing 10

Delicious.com would be a helpful research tool. I could use the site to locate web articles on any subject. My daughter was assigned a report on the African Wild Dog and the site helped us uncover numerous articles and resources for the report.
